ToggleEmilia and the Little Kite
Emilia was a bright, cheerful girl with big brown eyes and a smile as warm as sunshine. But today, she was sad. She held her school report card tightly, her hands shaking.
“I did not do well in my tests,” she whispered to herself. “I am not smart.”
Emilia’s mom noticed her sitting quietly by the window. “What’s wrong, sweetheart?” her mom asked gently.
“I didn’t do well,” Emilia said, showing her mom the report card. “I feel like I’ll never get better.”
Her mom smiled and gave Emilia a hug. “Come with me,” she said, leading her to the backyard.
In the yard, a small, colorful kite lay on the grass. It was Emilia’s favorite kite, but its string was tangled and it couldn’t fly.
“Why don’t you try fixing it?” her mom said.
“But it’s too hard,” Emilia replied.
“Just give it a try,” her mom encouraged.
Emilia picked up the kite and began working on the string. At first, it felt impossible. The knots were tight and her fingers got tired. But then, she remembered what her dad always said: *”One step at a time and you’ll get there.”
So Emilia tried again. She untangled one knot, then another. Slowly, the string became straight and smooth. After a while, she tied it to the kite and held it up. “I think it’s ready,” she said, smiling a little.
“Let’s test it,” her mom said.
Emilia ran across the yard, holding the kite. The wind caught it and up it soared! It flew higher and higher, painting the sky with its colors.
Emilia laughed, watching the kite dance in the air. “I did it” she said, her eyes shining.
Her mom knelt beside her. “See, Emilia? Just like fixing your kite, you can fix anything, even your test scores. It just takes time and effort.”
Emilia thought for a moment. “So, if I study and try harder, I can do better next time?”
“Exactly,” her mom said. “You are smart, Emilia. And most importantly, you are brave for not giving up.”
From that day on, Emilia worked a little every day. She read her books, asked questions and practiced math problems. When the next tests came, Emilia tried her best. This time, she didn’t feel scared. And when her report card came, her face lit up with joy.
“I did better” she said, jumping up and down.
Her mom hugged her tightly, “I knew you could do it.”
Emilia looked up at the kite hanging on her wall and smiled. She thought to herself, “I’m like my kite. Even if I fall, I can rise again.”
Moral Of the Story:
With hard work and belief in yourself, you can overcome any challenge. Even if you fall, you can always rise up again.
