How to Use the Spin the Wheel Tool
Choose a preset from the Quick Presets panel or type your own options into the Edit Options box. Click the pink Spin button and watch the wheel spin. When it stops the result appears in the yellow banner below the wheel and the winning segment lights up so you can see exactly where the wheel landed. The result is also saved in the Recent Results list so you can keep track of previous spins. Use the speed buttons to choose Slow, Normal or Fast spinning. Toggle sound on or off using the Sound button. Add up to twenty custom options or remove any you do not need.
The Twelve Ready-Made Presets
Pick a Student randomly selects a student from a class list; perfect for answering questions, choosing helpers or deciding who goes first without any favoritism. Break Time Fun spins through a list of classroom break activities including free draw, dance break, story time, yoga stretch and brain break. Chore Picker assigns a household chore randomly which removes arguments about who does what and makes chore time feel fairer to children. What’s for Dinner solves the daily family dilemma by randomly choosing from a list of meal options including pizza, pasta, stir fry, burgers and tacos. Classroom Jobs assigns class roles including line leader, door holder, board cleaner, register helper, librarian and plant waterer. P.E. Activity randomly picks a physical education activity from running races, skipping, jumping jacks, hula hoop, tag and obstacle course. Reading Corner helps children choose what to read from picture books, poetry, comics, non-fiction, chapter books and joke books. Art Activity spins through creative options including coloring in, painting, clay modelling, collage, origami and string art. Topic Spinner picks a lesson topic from animals, space, weather, oceans, volcanoes, rainforest, ancient Egypt and the human body. Reward Chooser picks a class reward from extra break, movie time, free choice, outdoor lesson, game time and sticker sheets. Party Games randomly selects a game from musical chairs, charades, Simon Says, freeze dance, limbo and hide and seek. Yes or No gives a fun randomized answer for simple decisions including yes, no, maybe, ask again, definitely and not today.

How Teachers Use the Spin the Wheel in the Classroom
The most popular classroom use is picking a student to answer a question. Instead of the same confident hands going up every time, the wheel gives every student an equal and random chance to contribute. This raises engagement across the whole class because every student knows they might be chosen. It also removes the social pressure of volunteering because being chosen is clearly random and fair. Teachers use the Classroom Jobs preset at the start of each week to assign roles without any debate. The Topic Spinner works brilliantly as a lesson starter; spin the wheel and teach whatever topic it lands on, which keeps lessons feeling spontaneous and exciting. The Break Time Fun preset gives children agency over their break activity while keeping the choice structured and fair. The Reward Chooser gives children something to look forward to and makes rewards feel exciting rather than predictable.
How Parents Use the Spin the Wheel at Home
The Chore Picker is the most popular preset for families. Assigning chores by wheel spin removes the perception of unfairness because the randomness is visible to everyone. Children are significantly more likely to accept a chore when they can see it was chosen by chance rather than by a parent’s decision. The What’s for Dinner preset works brilliantly on evenings when nobody can agree; add your family’s favorite meals, spin the wheel and the decision is made in seconds. The Party Games preset is perfect for children’s birthday parties and family game nights; spin it between rounds to decide what game comes next. For the Yes or No preset, let children ask a question and spin the wheel for a fun randomized answer — a playful way to make small decisions like whether to have a second biscuit or stay up five minutes later.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of the Wheel
Customize every preset to match your actual class or family. For Pick a Student replace the placeholder names with your real student names. For Chore Picker replace the default chores with your actual household jobs. For What’s for Dinner add only meals your family actually eats so every result is a genuine option. Use Slow speed for dramatic effect when picking a student; the slower spin builds suspense and gets children excited. Use Fast speed for quick decisions when you just need a rapid random result. Turn sound on for classroom use to get children excited when the wheel spins and cheers when it lands. Turn sound off for quieter home use or when working with younger children who are easily overstimulated. Keep Recent Results visible to children so they can track the pattern and see that every option has an equal chance over time.
Using the Spin the Wheel for Special Occasions
For birthday parties use the Party Games preset and let the birthday child spin the wheel between each game. For class parties use the Reward Chooser and let a different student spin for each round. For family movie nights create a custom list of films everyone wants to watch and let the wheel decide. For reading time add book genres or series names to the Reading Corner preset and let children choose by spinning. For spelling practice add spelling words and make children spell the word the wheel lands on before they can spin again. For maths lessons add number operations or topic areas and make it into a game where children race to answer a question on the chosen topic.
